About

Students for California's Future is an expanding grassroots movement of youth and high school, undergraduate, graduate and professional school students who are committed to ensuring a better, brighter future by advocating the importance of education.

Mission

The mission of Students for California's Future is to: strengthen the youth/student voice and presence at the electronic, campus, legislative district, governing board and state level; increase public awareness about the negative impact past budgets and the proposed budget will have on students/youth and the future; and champion the need for the state to increase investment in education.

Vision

The vision of Students for California's Future is to: engage, enlighten and empower youth/students throughout the state; develop and hone their interpersonal and group communication skills, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking abilities; and prepare them to assume greater leadership roles in the future so as to help fundamentally transform their local, regional, state, national and international communities.

History

  • February 1, 2010: 1st Conference Call of 2010
  • Summer 2009: The Round Table, regularly scheduled conference call, established
  • March 16, 2009: Day of Action: March in March
  • December 19, 2009: Budget Summit
  • December 1-5, 2009: Budget Awareness Week
  • August 9, 2008: Retreat at UC Santa Barbara
  • June 29, 2008: Retreat at UC Los Angeles
  • May 19, 2008: Day of Action, Study-In for Education, East Side of State Capitol, 250 persons participated
  • April 21, 2008: Day of Action, March for Education, Rally at State Capitol, 2,500 persons participated
  • March 1, 2008: Coalition 1st In-Person Meeting in Sacramento
  • February 27, 2008: Coalition's 1st Conference Call
